Life as a Nebraska NAMA Member
Another Successful Year!
The 2007-2008 NAMA team represented Nebraska well at the NAMA Annual Conference in Kansas City last spring. The team made it to the semi-finals, an achievement they haven't had since 1999, with their marketing plan presentation for Apollo Storage Rings, a profitable grain storage device and preservation system.
Giving Back
Members of the Nebraska NAMA enjoyed spending the evening helping with a local elementary school's math and science night. The group helped serve over one hundred pizzas and spent time socializing with the students and their families.
Got Work?!?
Each semester our chapter invites a panel of speakers to come and enlighten us on career opportunities and give advice on how to find the right job. Members have the chance to talk one-on-one with professionals, ask questions, and get good advice on resumes, interviews, and important "to do's" in developing career plans and direction. Throughout the year, members are encouraged to attend Midlands Chapter meetings in order to expand their knowledge of agricultural careers and network with professional NAMA members.
Classroom Visitors
Monthly meetings give NAMA members a chance to hear guest speakers talk about their companies, careers, what they do, and how they got there. Professionals from companies such as Dow AgroSciences, Bailey Lauerman, and ConAgra Foods have shared insights with students at meetings. This not only creates fun meetings, but also provides a chance for learning and networking.
Socials!!
Each semester, NAMA members take the evening off and spend time building relationships with fellow members and having some fun. This year the chapter took in bowling at Champions Fun Center and went to a Starz Hockey game with two other campus organizations.
